Weakness iPhone 4

In its debut iPhone 4 weeks ago, remarkable sells. Even before the store opened already many prospective buyers who queued. Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer said Apple's iPhone sales of 4 on the first day to 1.5 million units.

But nothing is perfect. Behind the sophistication of the iPhone 4, there are some disadvantages that arise.

Some reports stated, Apple's latest smartphone on the screen that appears yellow spots that interfere with vision. Technology site Gizmodo reports, yellow spots are probably caused by glue or adhesive and a layer of glass screen to protect it. Glue is probably not yet completely dry because the iPhone production 4 "in pursuing" to meet unexpected demand.

Part technician Apple states that the glue will disappear by itself within a few days, but buyers who can not wait can simply exchange it.

Another complaint is the problem of signal. Some iPhone users have to activate it a 4 on Thursday claimed to have a different signal quality when holding the smart phone was on two opposite sides.

Metal layer that surrounds the iPhone 4 was found also functions as an antenna to capture signals. The problem is, when touching the lower left side, then the phone signal will go down.

Apple boss Steve Jobs seem nonchalant to the complaint. In electronic mail delivered to address complaints about the antenna issue, he stated it was not an important issue of the overall function of the iPhone 4.

Windows XP Firewall - How Good Work?

SUMMARY: System Windows XP already comes with a firewall. Is this firewall will protect your computer when connected to the Internet?

Although the Windows XP firewall is not adequate but better than none at all, you should consider using another firewall to protect your system, or replace (recommended) firewalls compatible with Windows XP!.

  • Firewall in Windows XP filter only inbound traffic. This means that if spyware attacking your computer, it can open a security hole on your machine when you communicate with the outside world. This has the potential to cause a system crash or identity theft.
  • Windows XP Firewall does not have more sophisticated features that can help protect your computer. Some firewalls can detect that foreign computer repeatedly trying to attack your machine, and eventually will block all traffic from the attacker. In addition, some firewalls may prevent you from accessing sites known to host with suspicious activity.
  • Some software programs are installed on the computer will always be an active link to the internet and continue to communicate with a remote computer in order to check and see the latest updates from the software into a piece of software that are available. Annoying communication is only to display advertisements or communications usage statistics for manufacturing software. Although the Windows XP firewall is not much support the security system, but many other firewall programs can be configured by the application to prevent the things that are not desirable.

Some software firewalls that can be used to protect the system include:

  1. Developing Zone Labs ZoneAlarm, firewall functions for personal use. You must carefully navigate the site to download the free version unless you choose to purchase the commercial (and stronger) ZoneAlarm Security Suite or ZoneAlarm Pro. On October 29, 2008, is still supported.
  2. Sunbelt Software Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall Own. you can try for free for 30 days, after which the program automatically inactive 'for the less powerful firewall unless you choose to pay the registration fee.
  3. Agnitum has a freeware version for their firewall software, Outpost Firewall Free. However, but this software was made January 15, 2006, and released in 2002 may have been insufficient for use with the development of spyware.

Progress Slot ESIA, ISA and PCI

A computer can not be separated from the motherboard, other than a place to install the processor and memory, there are also other places such as installing card VGA Card, Sound Card, Modem Card, Lan Card, etc..

In its development, computers have evolved, as well as for the slot VGA, had been developed from the EISA slots using Mono chrome VGA card, and then developed with a color VGA ISA slot, VGA and continue to grow apart from the ISA slot into Slot AGP 2x, 4x to AGP 8x, and had been developed until now known as PCI-Express slot for VGA card.

For others like Sound card, Lan Card, to model today's motherboards are already using Onboard facilities, even to the vga also onboard. So the smaller the motherboard because the slot ESIA was not there and only has as many as 2 ISA slots.

To know the development of card slots on the computer let's try to discuss it:

EISA

Bus EISA (Extended / Enhanced Industry Standard Architecture) is a bus I / O, introduced in September 1988 as a response from the launch of IBM's MCA bus, considering that IBM wanted to "monopolize" the bus MCA to require other parties to pay royalties to license the MCA. This standard was developed by several vendors IBM PC Compatible, in addition to IBM, although that greatly contributed to the Compaq Computer Corporation. Compaq EISA, too, who form the Committee, a nonprofit organization designed specifically to manage the development of the EISA bus. In addition to Compaq, there are several other companies that develop EISA which if sorted, then the collection company can be called as WATCHZONE:

    * Wyse
    * AT & T
    * Tandy Corporation
    * Compaq Computer Corporation
    * Hewlett-Packard
    * Zenith
    * Olivetti
    * NEC
    * Epson

Although offering significant development in comparison with 16-bit ISA, EISA-based cards only a few on the market (or developed). That was just a hard disk array controller card (SCSI / RAID) cards and network servers.

EISA bus is basically a 32-bit versions of ordinary ISA bus. Not as MCA from IBM is really new (architecture and design of their slots), users can still use ISA cards 8-bit or 16-bit long into the EISA slots, so this has added value: backward compatibility (backward compatibility .) As with the MCA bus, EISA EISA cards also allow configuration automatically using the software, so that it can be said EISA and MCA are the pioneers of "plug-and-play", although still primitive.

ISA

Bus ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) is a bus architecture with the data bus width of 8-bit IBM PC was introduced in 5150 on August 12, 1981. ISA bus is updated by adding the data bus width to 16-bit on IBM PC / AT in 1984, so the ISA bus type in circulation was divided into two parts, namely the ISA 16-bit and 8-bit ISA. ISA is the basic and most common bus used in IBM PC until 1995, before finally being replaced by PCI bus, which was launched in 1992.

8-bit ISA

8-bit ISA bus is a variant of the ISA bus, the bus width of 8-bit data, used in IBM PC 5150 (initial PC model). This bus had been abandoned in modern systems to top, but Intel 286/386 systems still have it. This bus speed is 4.77 MHz (same as Intel 8088 processor in the IBM PC), before it was increased to 8:33 MHz on an IBM PC / AT. Because it has a bandwidth of 8-bit, then it has a maximum transfer rate is only 4.77 MByte / sec or 8:33 MByte / sec. Despite having a slow transfer rate, this bus including sufficient time, because the buses I / O such a serial port, parallel port, floppy disk controller, keyboard controller and the other very slow. This slot has 62 connectors.

Although a simple design, IBM did not immediately publish the specifications when it launched in 1981, but had to wait until 1987, so that the support device manufacturers struggling to make the device somewhat 8-bit ISA-based.

16-bit ISA

16-bit ISA bus is an ISA bus has a bandwidth of 16-bit, thus allowing the transfer rate is two times faster than the 8-bit ISA at the same pace. This bus was introduced in 1984, when IBM released the IBM PC / AT with Intel 80286 microprocessor in it. Why IBM improve to 16-bit ISA is because the Intel 80286 has a data bus which has a width of 16-bit, so that communication between processors, memory, and motherboard should be done in 16-bit ordinal. Although this processor can be installed on the motherboard that has a bus I / O with 8-bit bandwidth, this can lead to bottlenecks on the system bus concerned.

Instead of creating a bus I / O is a new, IBM was just a little break from design ISA 8-bit long, ie, by adding a connector 16-bit extensions (which add 36 connectors, so to 98 connector), which was first launched in August In 1984, the same year when IBM PC / AT was released. This is also the reason why the ISA 16-bit is called the AT-bus. This is indeed create interference with some 8-bit ISA cards, so IBM had to leave this design, to a design in which two slots are combined into one slot.

PCI

PCI (an extension of the English language: Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus which is designed to handle some hardware. PCI bus standard was developed by the PCI Special Interest Group consortium formed by the Intel Corporation and several other companies, in 1992. The purpose of this bus is to replace the bus ISA / EISA computers previously used in its IBM PC or compatible.

Old computer using ISA slot, which is a slow bus. Since its emergence around 1992, the PCI bus is still used today, to exit the latest version of PCI Express (add-on).

Motherboard Asus A8R-MVP

This one product that uses the ATI RD480 chipset or also known as the Radeon Xpress 200 Crossfire, and is intended for lovers of AMD socket 939 platform.

As is known, the chipset released by ATI is a response to SLI platform much earlier released by Nvidia. Even so, in terms of features and performance, of course, RD480 motherboard which is also aimed at power users or gaming segment is not less than the nForce 4 SLI version. In fact, in terms of price, its position under berchipset SLI motherboard. Let us discuss both these A8R-MVP.

As a socket 939 motherboard, of course Asus A8R-MVP supports all socket 939 processors AMD output, either single-core or dual core. The following technical specifications of the motherboard Asus A8R-MVP. In terms of appearance, nothing too unique in this series motherboards. At first glance, this motherboard layout similar to the A8N-SLI series, for example in the use of the heatspreader on the MOSFET, the placement holder processor and DIMM slots, power ports, and several other complementary components.

Equipment and Layout

In the sales package, ASUS is only included as standard equipment on most motherboards are two SATA cables and the power is, two ATA 100 cable and a floppy cable, I / O shield, manual, firewire cable and a USB port extra. Asus provides a metal plate on the back of the board, just below the socket holder 939. In addition to help the board when burdened by hook extreme heatsink fan that sometimes made the motherboard slightly curved, the plate can also help reduce board temperatures around the processor holder.

On the external panel on the back, in addition to providing standard ports such as a pair of ports PS / 2, each with a parallel and COM ports, audio ports, and RJ-45, you’ll find four USB ports, Firewire, and SPDIF output. For the network, ports are supported by chip utilizing Marvel 88E8001 PCI standard communication lines. SPDIF while it is controlled by the onboard ADI AD1986A 6-channel audio CODEC which are calculated for standard multimedia PC systems today.

To cool the chipset on the job, Asus provides each a heatsink without a fan on the northbridge and southbridge chips. Though a bit hot to the touch, but this passive cooling is sufficient to overcome the heat generated, proved no stability problems or crashes due to excessive temperature effects when we do a test. The surplus, in addition to more save power, use of these passive cooling would minimize the noise level to 0 decibels.

ULI M1575 southbridge chip that is used also to provide sufficient support for the media penyimapanan complete. Call it two IDE connections and four Serial ATA connection. This chip also supports the configuration of RAID 0, 1, 0 +1, 5, and JBOD.

For additional power supply, in addition to providing power connector 4-pin usual, on this motherboard is also Molex connectors that are characteristic of artificial Asus motherboards. For the memory voltage, the available options are also relatively enough to accommodate the wishes of the users who intend to do overclocking. Either start from 2.65v to 3.20v.

Similarly mengustomisasi option for memory performance. For those of you who like to experiment, quite a lot of options available to you play.

From the software side, Asus includes a four fairly useful utility that Asus Update to further facilitate the user when to update the BIOS, MyLogo to personalize the boot display, Cool and Quiet is a complementary feature thermal management and processor performance, as well as PC Probe II for monitoring temperature , voltage, and speed of the processor heatsink fan circles.

Installation and Testing

Here we use the testbed to test the Asus A8R-MVP:

    – AMD Athlon 64 3200 + (Winchester, 2000MHz)
    – Stock Cooling
    – X2 Kingston KVR400X64C25/512
    – GeCube Radeon X800 Mastercard 256MB
    – Asus Radeon X800 256MB (Crossfire Ready)
    – Antec Truepower 2.0 550W
    – Windows XP Professional SP1
    – DirectX 9.0c
    – ATI Catalyst 6.1

In addition, this motherboard test results we compare the test results Asus A8N-SLI which we could test some time ago. Testbed that we use the same as above. The difference is, the A8N-SLI motherboard that time we pasangi Sapphire Radeon X700Pro VGA, and use Enlight 420W power supply. Others same.

As usual, the installation process we go through smoothly without a hitch. Similarly, when we do CrossFire feature activation. There is no problem that we found by chance two graphics cards that we use, either master or slave card using the chip and the same memory capacity

If seen from the results of testing with Sysmark 2002, although the results ujinya good enough, but the performance was slightly below the motherboard Asus A8N-brother who had our SLI testing. Similarly, the results of the tests with PCMark 05. though testbed that we used relatively the same (just different VGA and power supply), the performance of Asus A8R-MVP is still slightly below the A8N-SLI.

ATI Radeon chipsets seem Xpress 200 Crossfire is relatively new is not maximized its performance compared to Nvidia chipsets, nForce 4 SLI is already very mature.

Eee PC 1015PEM have the same completeness as netbooks in general. VGA port and a USB port on the left side and two on the right allows the user to connect a USB modem or an external hard drive while still recharge the battery cell phone and MP3 player, for example.

Asus Eee PC 1015PEM To do video conferencing, Asus provides a 0.3 megapixel camera at the top of the screen. Interestingly, there is a 'door' slide in front of the camera lens. It's quite useful to ensure that the camera will not catch the user when he is not ready.

This netbook also has a facility called Express Gate. Feature is application 'instant-on' Linux-based operating system that can be directly used in about 5 seconds after the button is pressed. If users only need to surf the internet, chatting, communicating through Skype, simply press the button on the left corner to activate this feature. Now if you want to get into the operating system Windows 7, the button is on the right hand corner.

Performance Test
Using the Express Gate feature, less than 10 seconds we can immediately surf the Internet. Unfortunately, when we try to explore, we need to connect the ethernet cable to the LAN port. Unable to use WiFi.

Asus Eee PC 1015PEM In terms of performance, dual core processors are used, despite their lower clock that is only 1.5 GHz and the system makes the application more responsive when running.

Through the application of RightMark CPU Clock Utility, noted that the battery on this netbook has the full capacity of 56.305mWh. If used continuously, the application estimates that the battery can last up to 5 hours 26 minutes.

The test battery life we do use the application Imtec Battery Mark. When tested, and by enabling the CPU load, carrying batteries can last for 4 hours 46 minutes.

Asus Eee PC 1015PEM From a brief experiment that we do, Asus Eee PC with dual core processors we can recommend to you who are looking for compact portable computer, with a somewhat decent processor in terms of speed. In Indonesia, this netbook will be marketed in three colors namely black, white, red, and blue in the price range of $ 440 or approximately Rp 3, 89 millions.

Excess
- Dual-core processor, better performance
- Battery durable enough

Deficiency
- Some of the buttons are smaller, less comfortable when worn

Samsung and Google Prepare Nexus Two

Google seems to be turning away from HTC, smartphone manufacturers Nexus from Taiwan.

Google and Samsung are reportedly preparing a new generation of smartphones Nexus, the Nexus Two. Rumored, Nexus successor will be launched 8 November in New York City.

Quoted VIVAnews from TG Daily, Friday, October 29, 2010, Google's second smartphone will be powered by Android version 3.0 (Gingerbread) as the operating system.

"I have talked to many reliable sources about this project. We share the same information. However, it seems that Google still wants to hide this info," Taylor said Wimberly from AndroidAndMe.

"Just imagine if Samsung only focus on hardware while Google took over all the software. That's what you'll get the Nexus Two," he said.

Wimberly own claim does not matter if many people do not believe these rumors. "Just wait on the game. Look at what happened two weeks," he said. Not only the TG Daily, many people not sure if Samsung Nexus Two as soon as this issue without any signs.

Samsung could have recorded his debut as one of the first vendor to release a Android phone Gingerbread. It would be very interesting if true, although not that launched Nexus Two prime.

If that is the Samsung designated Google as a partner manufacturers, automatic HTC officially no longer a producer of Google's smartphone. Indeed, some time ago, from the Mountain View Internet giant said it stopped to market the Nexus.

Google steps taken because of poor sales of the Nexus One, even though this phone could be one-awaited mobile phone. People think Google does not really jump into the mobile industry, in addition to just simply want to encourage other hardware vendors to support the Android platform.

At least Google's steps to make this popular Android is not in vain. Phone vendors to other computers in droves launches Android platform devices. Even for mobile phones, Android is now one of the Apple iPhone rivals.

External Hard disk for Macbook Air

There are three options:

1. SD card (assuming you have a new 13″.) They’re available at up to 64 GB, obviously still under your 250 GB requirement. There are USB flash drives at up to 256 GB, but they’re insanely expensive ($700+,) 128 GB is slightly better at ~$300. I lump SD and USB together in the ‘ultra-small, but expensive for the capacity’ grouping.

2. 1.8″ hard drive. These are the same hard drives that are used in the iPod Classic. More expensive than physically-larger, at much lower capacities, but still way cheaper than an SD card or USB drive of equal size. Toshiba *JUST* released a 250 GB model, but it isn’t shipping in any devices yet.

3. 2.5″ hard drive. Bigger than a 1.8″, but still not too big (and USB-powered.) Available up to 1 TB. This really is your best bet. They’re not too large, yet they are available in high capacities, for not too much money.

UDID transmits the user's device. In addition, 18 percent of applications encrypt their communication so it can not know what data they share.

The findings were disclosed by Eric Smith, Network Administrator from Bucknell University who twice won the title in the arena of global security experts, DefCon.

Conclusions are drawn based on the 57 applications available for iPhone and note that personal information is sent in plain text form, the more potentially unsafe.

For information, UDID is given a unique identifier to any IOS-based devices including the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. This code is used to prevent piracy of software in the App Store.

Smith compares, UDID on IOS-based device similar to the Processor Serial Number given Intel in their Pentium 3 processor. When it was Intel's decision to invite controversy and anger from the security group. Unfortunately, similar things do not happen to Apple.

Some applications are known to transmit UDID iPhone include software from Amazon, Chase Bank, Target, and Sams Club. CBS News even more severe applications. He sent UDID its user-assigned name for the iPhone, which generally includes the original name of the owner.

"Most of the iPhone application makers to collect and store data UDID from afar, and some manufacturers also have the ability to link users UDID with original identity," said Smith. "For example, Amazon's application communicates the user's real name is logged in the form of standard text, complete with UDID, allowing Amazon and tapper UDID network easily match with the phone owner's name," he said.

Fuel Cell for Notebook Power 14 Hours

Battery is something very vital in the notebook. Without batteries, the notebook is not powered (unless it is plugged grid). Therefore, this news would have been nice of notebook users who always mobile, especially the military.

UltraCell, a company in California, USA, has just introduced a mobile fuel-cell system is 25 watts which is specifically designed to supply power for notebook hardiness (ruggedized). By using a cartridge with a capacity of 250cc, XX25 cell was able to fill the notebook battery to 14 hours.

In addition to durable weight 'Battery' is about 65% lighter than regular Li-Ion Battery. Because hydrogen fuel-cell ready in XX25 is made from methanol solution with high concentration.
To generate electricity with water vapor byproduct, the fuel cell uses oxygen and hydrogen. The electric power generated will continue until the fuel source runs out.

Conversion of fuel into energy here takes place through an electrochemical process, not combustion process methanol. Therefore classified as environmentally friendly fuel cell and also not as noisy generators that are powered by gasoline.
Unfortunately, the use of methanol fuel cells is limited to military circles that use of specially designed notebooks resilient. So civilians will not enjoy it

Notebook Battery Recharging of Suitcases

This metal suitcase can be used to recharge mobile phones and notebook batteries. Understandably, solar cell panels form a cap over it.

TAIPEI, TUESDAY - IT eco-friendly on the rise. Almost no day passed without issue. Computex event in Taipei, Taiwan who had just finished this theme. In the event we can see a variety of products emerging solar power cell. Understandably its potential is quite large, especially for notebook peripherals products.

One of them offered by the Opti which is known as the product of optical drives (also used for sound cards). This company has developed into Opti-Solar and offer solar products (solar-based). One product is a suitcase that can recharge some batteries laptops, mobile phones and other portable electronics products.
Metal suitcase made by Opti-Solar consists of two main components. The top panel is a solar panel. While the base incorporate Li-Ion battery and charger.

In North America, briefcase charger will be available in the third quarter of this year. But in Indonesia, this product seems not to be marketed. Moreover, the price is quite high: U.S. $ 1,499 for a suitcase-paneled solar cell can charge up to 75 watts. Maybe we do need to wait until the price drops.

13 Risk of Fatal Use of Mobile Phone Constantly

There was no denying that mobile phones (mobile phone) has been widely present a variety of convenience in human life. Although much debated, many people worried about the negative impact of radiation caused.
The largest study ever conducted about the dangers of mobile phones has denied the existence of the risk of brain cancer in mobile phone users. Research conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) indicates the risk is too great not to worry about.

However, recent research in India again emphasized the threat of cancer, especially in children and adolescents. The researchers, Prof Girish Kumar said that even radiation hazard also exists in some Base Transceiver Station (BTS).
"One base station can transmit power 50-100W. Countries that have many mobile operators such as India could be exposed to 200-400W power. Radiation can not be underestimated, can be very deadly," said Prof Kumar.

Quoted from DNAindia, following a number of negative impacts that can be caused by excessive radiation from mobile phone base stations and towers:

  1. Risk of brain cancer in children and adolescents increased 400 percent due to the use of mobile phones. Users are getting younger age, the greater the impact caused by cell phone radiation.
  2. Not only in children and adolescents, in adults too dangerous cell phone radiation. The use of mobile phone 30 minutes / day for 10 years can increase the risk of brain cancer and acoustic neuroma (a type of brain tumor that can cause deafness).
  3. Cell phone radiation is also harmful to male fertility. According to research, excessive use of mobile phones could lower sperm count by 30 percent.
  4. Phone's radio frequency can cause changes in human DNA and form free radicals in the body. Free radicals are carcinogens or compounds that can trigger cancer.
  5. Phone's radio frequency also affect the performance of life support equipment (live saving gadgets) such as pacemakers. The result can increase the risk of sudden death.
  6. A study to prove the production of stress hormones cortisol increase in the use of mobile phones in a long duration. Increased levels of stress is one form of the body's rejection response to things that endanger health.
  7. Electromagnetic fields around the tower base stations can reduce the body's immune system. As a result the body more often experience allergic reactions such as rashes and itching.
  8. The use of mobile phones more than 30 minutes / day for 4 years can lead to hearing loss (deafness). Mobile phone radiation could trigger persistent tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hair cell damage which is the audio sensors on the organ of hearing.
  9. Due to the excessive use of mobile phones, which use radio frequency (900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2450 MHz) can increase the temperature in the layer of the eye that lead to corneal damage.
  10. Emissions and cell phone radiation can reduce the body's immune because it reduces the production of melatonin. In the long term, this condition can affect the health of bones and joints and lead to arthritis.
  11. Risk of cancer in saliva glands increased as a result of excessive use of mobile phones.
  12. Magnetic field around the phone that lights can trigger damage to the nervous system that have an impact on sleep disorders. In the long term damage it can accelerate dementia.
  13. Electromagnetic fields around base stations also have an impact on the environment. Birds and bees to often experience disorientation or loss of direction, so easy to stress because they can not find a way back to the nest.

Nokia Create Nanotechnology Concept

Nokia can not be too funky with their mobile phone design for mass production but you must admit, their concept of design is something that looks, quite literally, out of this world. Morph, a joint Nanotechnology concept, developed by Nokia Research Center (NRC) and the University of Cambridge (UK) - was launched today with the "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition, at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Morph features in both the exhibition catalog and on MoMA's official website.

Morph is a concept that demonstrates how future mobile devices might be elastic and flexible, allowing users to change their mobile device into radically different shapes. This shows the main functions that nanotechnology might be capable of providing: flexible materials, transparent electronics and self cleaning surfaces. Dr. Bob Iannucci, Chief Technology Officer, Nokia, commented: "Nokia Research Center, looking for ways to reinvent the form and function of mobile devices, the Morph concept shows what might be possible."

 Dr Tapani Ryhanen, Head of the NRC Cambridge UK laboratory, Nokia, commented: "We hope that the combination of art and science will show the potential of nanoscience to a wider audience."

The partnership between Nokia and the University of Cambridge was announced in March, 2007 - an agreement to cooperate in a program broad and long-term joint research projects. NRC together with the University of Cambridge has decided to work on more projects, to begin with, which centered on nanotechnology.

Elements of Morph might be available to integrate into handheld devices within 7 years, though initially only at the high end. However, nanotechnology may one day lead to low cost manufacturing solutions, and offers the possibility of integrating complex functionality at a low price. Hopefully it will not take long.
