Reviewing some more networking equipment. Both run Cisco's well reknown adaptive security appliance, The AIP SSC-5 and the AIP SSM-10. These are 2 slightly differently built items, but have the same sake. Rapidly deployable, and easily manageable they enable small businesses, branch offices and enterprise teleworker environments to minimize operation costs. All come with functions like firewall protection, intrusion prevention, antivirus, worm scanning, malware protection.
The SSM-10 is rack-mountable, while the cheaper SSC-5 is an external hardware. The SSC-5 has a total of 1 expansion slots, and an Intel Celeron 1.60 GHz processor, 256 mega of installed RAM, 64 MB of flash memory, the firewall's throughput is 150 Mbps, while VPN throughput is 100 Mbps, can handle 10 IPSec VPN peers and 2 SSL VPN peers. Confronted with the SSM-10's features, the SSC-5 seems puny. While having the same amount of flash memory, and RAM, the SSM-10 can handle 50 IPSec VPN peers, and 50 Web VPN peers, runs 6k concurrent sessions (32k in virtualization).
These excellent items might non function through time, in that case, I don't recommend buying new ones, instead send them to get repaired, or at least buy used ones. Dominating prices lead to a certainly under-estimated second hand market, which still has to show us it's true potential.
After all, if it's checked, you got to consider this is not something you wear, and should be seen, instead, a repaired unit will function the same way as a new one does. Save the planet!

Baynetwork also offer lifetime warranty on Cisco and Juniper product they sell, as well as 90 days free technical support, Cisco and Juniper repair and free continental US ground shipping.
